Scale of your Sample Design

Pixel to Needle Technology

The "Pixel to Needle" technology means each pixel of your digital design in Create™ translates into one stitch of knitted textile. Since one stitch is approximately 1 mm, this helps you gauge the size of design elements. For example, a shape of 100 px will be about 10 cm when knitted.

Sample Size

The size of the digital canvas in Create™ is 1488px x 1008px which will translate into a approx. 140cm x 100cm* knitted textile.

* Please Note: The final size of your knitted sample may vary depending on the yarn and knit type you chose. One composition could shrink a bit more than the other with a tolerance of 20% +/-. Please be aware of this discrepancy while making your design.

💡TIP 1: If you want to use a small-scale pattern, define a pattern size that fits perfectly into the canvas height. For example, divide the canvas dimensions by 2 or 3 and use that size for your pattern. Repeat the pattern within the 1488x1008px canvas before creating your PNGs.

Check the scale of your design

Make sure the scale of your Create™ design will fit into the scale of the final product you are making:

Option 1: Quickly check the scale of your pattern with a rectangle

If you are designing a specific product like a bag or a garment, create a rectangle of the approx. size of your product and place it on top of your canvas in your design program (e.g., Photoshop or Illustrator).
For example, for a vest, create a 50cm x 70cm (500px x 700px) rectangle for a medium-sized body. This will help you understand the scale and proportion of your design on the final product.

Option 2: Visualize your digital textile to your product

Right-click on the editor to download the digital sample. Use your preferred design tool to mock-up the textile onto your product. Keep in mind that the canvas translates to approx. 100cm x 140cm.
